About Ishmael

I am a designer and illustrator born in a little southern town called Sipsey Alabama. Since I was a child, I have been inspired by various forms of media, music, and pop culture. Coming from a small town in Alabama, I was able to grow spiritually and mentally by immersing myself in art. I am interested in documenting the human experience. The divine and chaotic.

My goal is, and always will be to develop my skills as a creator in as many areas of the design discipline as possible. I have been designing freelance for businesses and individual clients since 2014 and became a part of a podcast called The Kickback which later developed into a business that is a media outlet and platform for many creatives in the state of Alabama.

Graphic design can be challenging as it is a fast-paced, and constantly evolving environment. To excel one must pursue continuous self-education and practice. I see my practice as a life-long learning experience.

I am currently pursuing my BFA with a concentration in Graphic Design at UAB (The University of Alabama at Birmingham), off-campus I am a founding member of the creative outlet The Kickback. My publications include works featured in JSU's 2021 Black History Month Juried Show, UAB's 45th Annual Juried Student Exhibition, UAB'S 46th Annual Juried Student Exhibition also winning The Staff Award.
